Bring it on 2021: Favorite Finds!

Dec 18, 2020

I know we’ve we’ve talked about before, but as a society, we are embracing our homes with a new found love and zeal. Through all the shutdowns, quarantines, and reduced staffing, the home industry is stronger than ever, leading to beautiful lighting, textiles, furniture, and accessories that excite us and have us looking forward to 2021 and the design opportunities ahead.

Here is a a taste of what we love and can’t wait to use in our projects this year. We hope you enjoy it!

 Seeing the Light!

We work with both big and small lighting companies to find that perfect point of illumination. Here is a favorite pendant from our Hamptons project. The Floating Disk Pendant by design superstar Kelly Wearstler adds just the right amount of task an ambient light while the architecture of the piece fills the space.

Kitchen Islands are a great opportunity to add some wow-factor. The Arc Globe light by Allied Maker does not disappoint. A soft white globe with wood and brass accents brings warmth to an all white kitchen.

Function, Meet Beauty!

From case goods to upholstery we found some incredible pieces that brought in the perfect balance of beauty and function. For this Hamptons pool house we used the Claremont Sofa from Vanguard Furniture. We loved the expanded arm for an extra seat now and then. We also used their performance fabric in white (I know, we’re brave!). This fabric will withstand the wet kids, the dogs, and the late afternoon cocktail party!

If you’re looking for a piece that makes a statement, look no further than the Satellite Tables from our go-to luxury furniture source, Holly Hunt. Organic shapes in three heights and widths create an otherworldly scene for our client’s new living room.

Plain or Pattern?

Sometimes it’s the simplest ideas that make the biggest impact. For a colorful family room, we paired a creamy textured linen blend with a beautiful trim by Samuel & Sons to soften the lines of floor to ceiling windows while adding just enough visual interest. And don’t get me started on the brass hardware and that color blue!

Wallcoverings can truly make the space, so we worked with our favorite manufacturer Phillip Jeffries on this “Powder Room with Pop!”. Their pattern Sanctuary made with woven paper and banana bark makes a dramatic statement in any space.

Details, Details!

No room is complete without meaningful accessories to finish the look. Sculptural stone, vintage boxes, family photos, and of course, your favorite books really bring a space to life. Some of our favorites from Arteriors Home and CB2.

An Artist’s Touch!

Beautiful artwork will always be a great investment. It can finish off a space like no other element in the room, and will draw the viewer in time and time again. For those who might be working on a budget, original artwork by our good friend Kelly O’Neill is a smart way to bring a stunning piece of art into your home without breaking the bank.

This piece by our dear friend Jill Pumpelly was the perfect balance of movement and serenity. Her soft colors gave this Hamptons living room a focal point without being too heavy.

For us, it’s all about the mix. A blend of modern and traditional, always layered with soothing colors and soft textures. We may not know what 2021 will bring, but we certainly look forward to the beauty and fun of discovering the latest for our clients!
